Top 5 Benefits of BCAA'S And Amino Acids

Author: Kieran Reinboth

Amino acids in particular Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA’s) could be one of the most beneficial products to add to your supplement arsenal. BCAA’s are made up of three reoccurring amino acids of which are already present in the human body (Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine.) They are most commonly known for assisting in muscular and strength gains, preventing muscular breakdown and therefore increasing endurance, assist in proteinsynthesis and in turn enhancing your recovery.

#1: Prevents Muscle Loss
When you workout, you are tearing down and shredding tiny fibers within the muscle you’re training which is why you tend to feel sore after a brutal session. Knowing this, it’s easy to understand that numerous athletes have undergone studies consisting of the use of BCAA’s and the results inform us that the best time to take it is intra-workout to combat this. BCAA’s and other essential amino acids act together like a shield to keep some of the fibers intact and therefore allowing you to still work the muscle and recover quicker.

#2. BCAA’s are used as actual energy within the body when you are being depleted with glycogen through intense exercise, therefore helping you push through the rest of your workout.

#3. Greater Fat Burn
So, how do you think BCAAs protected the glycogen of those athletes? By burning fat instead. For those trying to lose some body fat, or athletes training on low-carb diets, then, BCAAs will help your body make the switch to depending on fat for fuel.

#4. Helps with the offset of DOMS
Using BCAA’s intra-workout as well as throughout the day during a big lift day such as legs or back will help to recover these larger muscle groups and rebuild muscle at a faster rate.

#5. Enhances Workout Performance
BCAA’s can improve your overall performance during physical activity. Your body will respond better to your workouts and your mind will operate more efficiently during the activity, allowing you to maintain your focus and make clearer decisions on the field and in the gym.
